Weekend picks #020
Babis Konstantinidis | November 25, 2007Time management? How do you manage time? It's just clicks away. Maybe you should start managing your own self. It's easier

Rescue your time
How can you start managing effectively your time or even better your own self at work if you don’t even know how you spend your time in front of your computer when you are working? RescueTime is a web-based time-management tool that allows you to easily just that. You will only have to create a free account and install a small program that collects data from your computer and sends them to www.rescuetime.com where you can see them in beautiful graphs. You can even add applications into groups or even add tags to them. The data collector is smart enough to recognize the program that you are working with even if you have more than one opened at the same time. There is only one disadvantage and that is that the program is still in beta phase. It is available in Windows or Mac but the programmers said that they will be releasing the code of the data collector as Open Source so I guess that there will be a Linux version also. You can find it here.

RSS only for news?
Do you use RSS feeds? I am sure that most of you do. It is the only way to stay informed without spending time visiting numerous sites every day. You just sit in your computer and the news comes to you, you don’t have to go get them. With ReminderFeed you can use RSS feeds not for staying informed but for staying on time. You will only have to visit http://www.reminderfeed.com/ and create your own reminder feed, setting the date. The first time you will have to add the feed in your RSS reader and start receiving your own reminders as RSS. If you add the RSS feed in more than one computer, for example work and home then you will receive the same reminder. You can even secure your RSS feed with a password and what is more interesting is that this service is totally free! You can find it here.

Something New to Flickr?
Flickr Uploadr just gone to beta version 3.0. The new program has a new interface and it’s easier to use than the old one. With 3.0 you can add tags, descriptions, titles, at any number of your photos and you can even rearrange your photos in a different order. I have read some posts of users complaining for problems although I personally didn’t have any problems. As rcrowley says announcing the new Uploadr is that it is still beta. For now it is only available in English, we can expect all the other languages to be released as the program goes to gamma phase. You can find it here.
Until next time, keep on doing what you do best :-)
Weekly Picks #002
Babis Konstantinidis | October 4, 2007If you use Firefox then you should know about Greasemonkey that permits you to change the behavior of the browser in specific sites.

Stealth Kiwi is a rewritten version of an older GTD Greasemonkey script that helps you stay focused during working hours by blocking access in certain sites. The script is "clever enough" to allow you hourly breaks to blow of some steam.
Until next time keep on searching the Net

Real Desktop
Real Desktop will transform your desktop in to a real desk.
I don’t know if it will help you organize your icons more effectively (I tend to have around 50 of them displayed in my desktop constantly) but it is one of the best visual enhancements I have ever seen, and it works for Windows Vista too.
The author claims that it will not affect your system with very little resources consumed and I tend to agree with him. In my notebook with a second widescreen 20,5’’ monitor attached, it runs smoothly.
Real Desktop will let you change the size of your icons, rotate them, fade in and out files names as you mouse over, it will add a reflective surface and will let you select the light direction.
Thank you Stefanos for the opportunity you gave me.
This was my first post and yes it was fun.
Until next time
Keep on... making noise :-)
