My beloved everyday-tool goes 7!
I'm talking about the application that gave to my life [personal & professional] the amazing "flavor" of creativity and differantiation. I'm talking about MindManager.
If you are unfamiliar with the Mind Maps term take a look here.
If you have created a MindMap even for one time, I'm sure that you know MindManager.

I had the opportunity to test the latest beta and I have to admit that I'm so excited and I can't wait for the final version! [May 30]

The new version goes mindmapping another step forward:

Ribbon UI
MindManager Pro 7 uses the new Microsoft Ribbon UI to create a streamlined, uncluttered workspace!

Integrate MM7 within Microsoft Applications
Link to topics from external applications. (i.e. Launch maps from Word docs.)

Central Topic
The Parent Topics are hidden and the new central topic becomes the (Central Topic) and the hierarchy starts from what was formerly the Subtopic.

Topic Styles
Allows creation of named topic styles and using these styles across current map regardless of the level at which topics are located.

Split topic
Create new topic based on text sub-selected in topic editor

Highlight Multiple Topics
Shift + Mouse click selects multiple topics for quick multi-formating

Saved Queries
Allows saving queries in Power Filter/Select/Bookmark dialogs and re-using these queries later.

Saved Views
Saves current view (filtered topics, collapsed topics, zoom factors) and allows reusing these views later.

Multiple Markers within Topics
Option to add more than one marker giving you flexible marking

Add Multiple Attachment to Map
Use multi select in file browse dialog to add multiple attachments to a topic

Advanced Sorting
Implemented sort options for icon marker groups and color marker groups. Allow reverse sorting of text marker groups. Available via markers group context menu, but not available for priority and task complete groups.

The improvements are not stopping here, moving the new MM version to a new very promising level.

It's time for all of you to come to MindMaps amazing world ;-)

3 more GTD wallpapers!

Stefanos Karagos | December 18, 2006

Before some weeks I created the first GTD wallpaper, using MindManager and Photoshop.

Today I'm sharing 3 more wallpapers that I created using MindManager, Powerpoint 2007 and Photoshop.

The first one is inspired from David Allen's book showing a "cloudy" workflow and the other two play the roll of everyday teaser :-)
Did you GTD today?

Full resolutions for 4:3 [2048x1536] and wide size [1920x1080] versions are included.

GTD workflow: 4:3 | wide
Teaser 01: 4:3 | wide
Teaser 02: 4:3 | wide

All free to use.

Re-read a book in less than 15 minutes.

Stefanos Karagos | December 4, 2006

I use this method since I was a University student:
The same time I'm reading a book I'm taking notes in a mindmap following the next rules:

1. Write the book's title in the center of mindmap
2. Create a branch with book's general info [Writer, Publishing House etc]
3. For each book's chapter create a different branch using its title
4. For each chapter's branch write sub-chapters titles
5. If there are any important info you have to remember, just put it on the appropriate branch.

Could you imagine what will happen the next time you will review the mindmap?
NO?
OK. Do you ever have read Guy Kawasaki's great book "The Art of the Start" [~220 pages]?
If yes then take a look in this mindmap [PDF] and will feel the "deja vu" effect as never before...

Thats all folks ;-)

PS: Take a look here for mindmapping creation tools.

Do you MindMap?

Stefanos Karagos | November 26, 2006

I'm using mind maps the last 10 years in my business and personal life.
Maybe you wondering what is a mind map...
Well let's take a look on Wikipedia page: "A mind map is a diagram used to represent words, ideas, tasks or other items linked to and arranged radially around a central key word or idea. It is used to generate, visualize, structure and classify ideas, and as an aid in study, organization, problem solving, and decision making."

The application that I used for my mindmaps creation was the superb MindManager but today, I discovered a new very promising tool: the iMindMap.

iMindMap is a mindmappping tool created by the mindmaps inventor, Tony Busan.
I had the opportunity as a university student, [before many years :-) ] to attend a fast-reading course from Buzan. It was a great experience as Buzan is a brilliant speaker and help me to learn how to read a 250 pages book in an hour or less.

Now Tony Buzan makes the long-awaiting move: creates his own mindmaping tool.
The major differentiation from the other similar tools is that the draw style of iMindMap simulates the way of hand-drawing mind maps, giving a unique style on the final result.
The software is still in beta stage but you can download it from here, and discover an other way for notetaking, brainstorming, presentations and team working.

It worths a try!
