GTD for Moleskine
Stefanos Karagos | December 15, 2006Update:
The new improved version can be found here!

As you can see here, I'm a GTDer :-) This is the first point...
The other one is that before 3 or 4 years, I discovered the amazing Moleskine planners and notebooks [yes, i know! Shame on me :-)] and from then I consider myself a Moleskine ...evangelist.
Trying to integrate the GTD method into my Moleskine planner, I designed a "GTD" A5-sized sheet that helps me on my daily efforts to apply the GTD procedure.
The idea behind is, that if the Moleskine planner itself, is the "basket" where we collect the everyday "stuff", then the only thing we need is to have an easy reachable place for the lists of: Actions, Waiting for and Someday/Maybe entries.
Well, after this simple thought, I designed the "beta" version of my "GTD 4 Moleskine" A5-sized sheet, and I have to admit that it helps me a lot, everyday.
Here you can find in PDF format, the two layouts of the same sheet.
Personally I'm using the one with the yellow side-box because it is easily visible, when I have a lot of paper-stuff inserted in my Moleskine planner. [Yes i use my planner as a daily paper-cabinet too :-)]

I would like to have your helpful comments about my "GTD 4 Moleskine" sheet, in order to make it a real useful tool that we can use it with our beloved Moleskine planner [and why not, with notebooks too]
Any suggestion or idea will be more than welcome!

Great work, I prefer the "yellow" version too.
The only suggestion i have is that i would like to have more "Action" entries.
Keep up!

As for the GTD 4 Moleskine I think that you can start it as an Open Source project!
So many of us we could participate on this and make it a cool tool

I think that the majority of input should be the NAs, then maybe 3-5 WFs. Maybe add a S/M and/or WF checkbox column and then have the whole sheet be for NAs.
I do like the idea of the Yellow stripe and will probably use that version. I am using an 18 Month Planner Moleskine and it is a nice complement to being able to have my lists with me too. I will probably print them doublesided on a heavier card stock for some strength.
Again, great idea, and I would love to write about it on my blog in a few weeks after using it for awhile.

What did you use to create your template? I am thinking that OpenOffice DRAW is your tool of choice, but I am not sure.
BTW, I also like the new desktops a lot, especially the workflow diagram. It may replace my 'official' Workflow Diagram that is taped to my monitor.

I love your site. Smooth design with great content. Winning combination!
Since you're a Moleskine evangelist, can you sell me on it? I definitely hate pen and paper, especially since you can't rearrange things easily. Are there some pages you can point me to that explain why a Moleskine is better than my Palm?
Keep up the awesome work,
Andrew

The joy in using the Moleskine is the simplicity of using a low-tech solution. I am a Network Admin and a geek, yet I abhor using the PDA for my GTD System. I tried using my iPAQ hx4700 with Pocket Informant for a long time as my trusted system. I found that getting info in and out of the system was the biggest drawback to the PDA.You can rearrange things just fine using pen and paper. It just involves crossing out the old and rewriting it. You have to get over that hump before you can really accept the pen and paper solution. It took me awhile to do that. I do like thing orderly on my page. But once I accepted that fact that crossing out is ok, I was fine.
Another joy in the pen and paper is the pen. I recently started using a fountain pen for the first time, and it is such a joy to write with that it is my main factor is staying low tech...I get to keep using my fountain pen.
I feel that you may not be a good candidate for the low tech solution (hmmmm, "I definitely hate pen and paper"). You really have to love to write to enjoy the low tech system that the gtd4moleskine addresses.

First of all thank you for you comment about this site!
I'm also a gadgets freak using also smatphones and PDAs the last 7 years...
But since I was discovered Moleskines I'm in love with these paper-things :-)
Some reasons to use Moleskine, hmmm....
1. Moleskine is a myth, that you can carry with you anytime
2. Moleskine has a unique style that you cannot find in any Palm
3. You have more space to expand your creativity
4. Is totally personalized as it has inside your own natural handwriting
5. You can customize your Moleskine so to be a unique art item! [then you can sell it on eBay and earn some money :-D
6. After years and years, when you will come back and look again at your old Moleskines you will see the best picture from your life, you will see:
- your emotions
- your imagination
- your loves
- your hates
- your LIFE
Your handwritings, your drawings, your notes into your Moleskine is the second perfect way to map your life...These are 6 from the one million reasons to do something when you really want to do it!
There are also one million reasons if you don't like to do it :-D
